Istanbul through a camera lens

Istanbul

Where Europe meets Asia.

A few days, with a camera, spent in the ancient Byzantine city of Constantinople. The Church of the Hagia Sophia, built by the Romans, together with the Blue Mosque, built by the Ottomans, dominate the cityscape. Close by is the Topkapi Palace, home of the Ottoman Sultans. Beneath the streets is the less well-known Basilica Cistern, a reservoir built by the Romans to keep the city well supplied with fresh water.

A fascinating city with close associations with Venice, another favourite destination with a camera.
